We used this DRI Sleeper child bedwetting trainer alarm for our 6 year old son, it's fantastic!
Our son is a very heavy sleeper and using this device he went from being very wet every night to completely dry in less than three months! It not only saves us the hassle of being woken during the night with a wet bottom climbing into our bed and doing the sheet change, but also saves on washing, the cost of nappies, and mattress protectors.
It will pay for itself in no time and gives your child a great sense of achievement and confidence.
Over 500,000 children in the UK regularly wet the bed: 14% of children over the age of five, 7% of seven year olds, 5% of ten year olds, 2% of 15+ year olds. Bedwetting alarms are used by NHS clinics all over the country. Today’s alarms cure 90% of children within four months, with an average treatment time of 8 weeks. Alarms teach the child’s brain to wake to the feeling of a full bladder.
DRI Sleeper- Bed Wetting Alarm is effective in successfully treating bedwetting in up to 90% of children over the age of 5 years. When using Dri Sleeper, as urination begins, the alarm sounds, waking the child before the bed or pyjamas are wet. This teaches the child's subconscious mind to waken to the need to urinate and later learn the mature pattern of suppressing the need to urinate during the night. Persistence is the key to success.
Method of Using the DRI Sleeper
1. Attach the alarm to a favourite pair of pyjamas by sewing the supplied Velcro on to the shoulder.
2. Cut a small 1-inch slit in the in the absorbing layers of a mini pad or pantyliner, towards the top. Put the point of the scissors inside the slit, and moving them backwards and forwards, create a tunnel inside the layers and slip the detector inside. To ensure that it does not pull out, tape across the slit with tape (inexpensive Micropore tape, purchased from any pharmacy, is most comfortable). With the slit facing upwards, stick the pad into the crotch of the underwear using the sticky back surface of the pantyliner.
3. Plug the detector into the alarm, running the wire inside the child's clothing.
4. When the child starts to urinate, a connection is made by the contact points in the sensor unit - which in turn sets off a loud, high-pitched bleeping noise from the alarm on the child's shoulder. The noise is loud enough to wake the child and as the child wakes, the mind is taught to wake up to the sensation of a filling bladder It's hard to believe, but the more often the DRI Sleeper is triggered, the more powerful the learning process, thus a child who initially wets frequently is the very child who will respond most strongly to the alarm treatment.
